Zamfara Road Kidn*p Foiled: 41 Travelers Rescued by Military

Forty-one individuals, who had been abducted by armed bandits, have been successfully freed by military personnel operating under Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma. The rescue operation took place along a major highway within the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

This development was confirmed via a preliminary report issued in a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, who serves as the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA. The statement detailed that the incident occurred after the victims' vehicle, which was en route from Senegal to Kano, experienced a mechanical breakdown on the road.

Exploiting the vulnerability of the stranded vehicle, the bandits launched an attack, subsequently attempting to force the passengers away from the highway into the adjacent bush. However, military forces, acting on timely and precise intelligence, rapidly deployed to the location. Upon arrival, they confronted the armed assailants, overwhelming them with superior weaponry. This decisive engagement compelled the attackers to abandon their captives and retreat into the surrounding farmlands.

All forty-one individuals, consisting of twenty-four males, ten females, and seven children, were recovered without any physical harm. The official statement further indicated that the rescued travelers are currently receiving essential support and arrangements are being made for their safe reunification with their families and appropriate transit agencies.
