Kano Wife Arrested After Husband's Death Amidst Second Marriage Plans

In a shocking turn of events from Kano State, authorities have apprehended a woman identified as Bilkisu Sani in connection with the alleged murder of her husband, Hafisu Gausu. The incident, which reportedly occurred in the Rogo Local Government Area, is believed to stem from Mr. Gausu's intentions to marry a second wife.

According to Auwal Kazagi Rogo, a local resident who spoke to Daily Trust, the tragic event unfolded on Friday, September 18, 2026, around 7:00 PM in the Katsalle area of Rogo town. Kazagi recounted that neighbours were alerted by cries from Gausu's wife, Bilkisu, who initially claimed her husband had been "kidn*pped slaughtered."

However, upon arrival at the scene, residents discovered a different scenario. "On reaching there, we saw that he was not slaughtered but hit on the head with an object. He fell and d!ed. There was even a sign of bite on his ear," Kazagi stated. Law enforcement officials were promptly summoned and subsequently removed the deceased's body for further investigation.

Sources indicate that the deceased, Hafisu Gausu, had recently become engaged and was making arrangements to formalize a union with another woman. This decision had reportedly led to frequent and intense disputes with Bilkisu, who allegedly made threats to prevent the impending marriage. Despite interventions from community elders aimed at resolving the marital discord, tensions between the couple reportedly remained high.

Bilkisu Sani has since been taken into custody by the police as the primary suspect, with investigations actively continuing into the circumstances surrounding Hafisu Gausu's death. In adherence to Islamic traditions, the late husband was laid to rest on Saturday morning in Rogo.

The couple had been married for almost seven years and shared two children. Furthermore, it has been revealed that Bilkisu is currently expecting another child with her late husband. Area sources also revealed that Gausu had even requested his fiancée's family to accelerate the wedding date by two months, reportedly due to the persistent opposition from his first wife.
