Man Detained in Bauchi Over 25-Year-Old's Fatal Stabbing

Authorities in Bauchi State have taken into custody a man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, following allegations that he fatally st@bbed a 25-year-old individual in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis. The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed this development in an official statement released on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The incident, as detailed by the PPRO, transpired on Saturday, August 22, stemming from a physical confrontation between Abdullahi and the victim, Moh'd Musa. During the heated exchange, Habib stated, Abdullahi reportedly produced a knife and inflicted the fatal wound on Musa.

The police command's statement elaborated on the sequence of events, saying, 'The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on 22nd August, 2026 at about 2300hrs, a report of culpable homicide was received from Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.'

Further preliminary inquiries indicated that a scuffle broke out between Abubakar Abdullahi, also known as 'DAN IYA,' and the 25-year-old Moh'd Musa. It was during this violent encounter that Abdullahi allegedly drew a knife and st@bbed Musa.

Following the attack, the injured Musa was quickly transported to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where medical personnel on duty pronounced him deceased. Operatives from the Command's 'A' Division Township unit acted promptly, apprehending the suspect and seizing the knife believed to have been used in the crime as an exhibit. Musa's body has since been moved to the hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.

Abdullahi remains in police custody, and investigations are currently underway. The case is slated for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive and discreet inquiry, with potential prosecution to follow. Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has issued a directive for a meticulous and diligent investigation to ensure that justice is served. He also appealed to the public to refrain from violence and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police outpost.
