Full Story
Authorities in Zambia's Copperbelt Province have initiated a search operation for a female suspect implicated in the demise of her boyfriend's spouse. Reports indicate that Vainess Kanyama, a 26-year-old mother of three, passed away after allegedly being assaulted by Christin Ntundwe, identified as her husband's mistress, in Kitwe.
The tragic incident reportedly unfolded when Vainess confronted Christin concerning an alleged extramarital affair involving her husband. The confrontation is said to have occurred on August 18, 2026, between 3 PM and 4 PM, within the Ipusukilo area, also known as Kapoto Compound, in Kitwe. Vainess Kanyama was subsequently laid to rest on Friday, August 21.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed details of the event, stating that the matter was officially reported to Riverside Police Station around 6:50 PM on the same day by 40-year-old Frank Zulu, the deceased's father. Mr. Zulu informed the police that his daughter was discovered unconscious following an alleged physical dispute involving her husband's girlfriend.
An autopsy conducted on August 21, 2026, by a pathologist at Kitwe Teaching Hospital, concluded that Vainess Kanyama's death resulted from a brain injury. This injury is suspected to have been sustained when she fell and struck the back of her head.
In response to the findings, the police have since opened a murder investigation file and intensified their efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect, Christin Ntundwe. Commissioner Hamoonga has appealed to members of the public with any pertinent information regarding the suspect's whereabouts to come forward and assist law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.
