Anambra Police Foil Assassination Plot, Arrest Four Suspects Over Land Dispute

In a significant breakthrough, the Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate a prominent businessman and take control of his properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37, were arrested on Wednesday in different locations within Ukwulu and Amichi. According to the command's spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests were made possible through strategic intelligence gathering initiated by the State Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Ama. Ikenga revealed that operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, collaborated with Agunechemba security personnel to disrupt the alleged plot, resulting in the recovery of two firearms and live ammunition. The police statement explained that the operation was a result of credible intelligence, which led to the arrest of the suspects. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were linked to a conspiracy to murder the businessman and take over his landed properties. The command is currently conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy and to identify other individuals who may be connected to the plot. The suspects are currently in police custody and will face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of the investigations.
