Imo Police Detain Woman Over Alleged Brutality Against 13-Year-Old Ward

Authorities in Imo State have taken into custody a woman suspected of severely assaulting a 13-year-old girl who was under her supervision. The incident came to light on Thursday, August 6, 2026, when Imo-based journalist and activist, Chidiebube Okeoma, confirmed the development. Okeoma revealed that he was instrumental in leading a police team to the suspect's location, facilitating her arrest and the subsequent rescue of the minor, who showed signs of severe physical abuse.
Online videos shared by Okeoma displayed the distressing state of the young victim, whose eyes appeared gravely swollen and shut. According to the activist, the arrested woman, identified as being from Udi in Enugu State, allegedly subjected the minor to a brutal attack, reportedly using a stick to inflict damage on her eyes.
