Katsina Shari'ah Court Judge Narrowly Escapes Bandits' Attack

In a daring move, suspected bandits stormed a Shari'ah court in Gwarjo village, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Wednesday, July 29. The armed men, who were firing sporadically, were demanding to know the whereabouts of Judge Mohammed Muktar. However, the judge had spotted the attackers from a distance and quickly escaped through a window, just moments before they reached the courtroom. A resident who witnessed the incident revealed that the judge's swift action saved his life, saying, 'The bandits entered the courtroom, shooting indiscriminately and repeatedly asking where the judge was. Fortunately, he had already escaped through the window, and a commercial motorcyclist helped him flee before they arrived.' After discovering the judge had escaped, the attackers became enraged and issued threats, warning that they would kill him if he ever returned to preside over court proceedings in the community. The Katsina State police command has not yet reacted to this development. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of judges and court officials in the state.
