Zamfara LGA Chairman, Family Abducted by Gunmen in Fresh Attack

A daring attack has been carried out by suspected bandits in Zamfara State, resulting in the abduction of the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area, Hon. Nura Umar Bungudu. The incident occurred when the assailants stormed the chairman's residence, which is located less than 20 kilometers from the state capital, Gusau. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen overpowered the security personnel guarding the residence, killing two police officers and two vigilantes in the process. The chairman, his wife, and children were then whisked away by the attackers. However, during a pursuit by security operatives, four or five of the children were rescued. The Zamfara State Police Command has yet to issue a statement on the development. The attack has raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the region, with many calling for increased efforts to combat the menace of banditry.
