Edo Couple Busted for Operating Massive Drug Warehouse

In a significant breakthrough, the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a couple accused of running a large-scale drug warehouse in Benin City. According to the Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, the couple was arrested during a raid on the warehouse, which was located in a residential area along Sapele Road, Benin City. The operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the alleged activities of the couple. The main suspects, Christian Chukwuka, 32, and his wife, Nwanneka Christian, 33, who hail from Ndokwa in Delta State, were taken into custody. A substantial quantity of illicit drugs was seized from the warehouse, highlighting the growing concern over drug trafficking and abuse in the state. The NDLEA operatives recovered 22 bags of skunk, weighing 219.5 kilogrammes, as well as compressed blocks of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of synthetic cannabis, weighing 192.67 kilogrammes. This seizure is considered one of the most significant drug busts in the state, and the agency remains committed to dismantling illegal drug operations and safeguarding communities. The commander stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will soon be charged in court. Christian Chukwuka attributed his involvement in drug trafficking to poverty and unemployment, saying, 'I am a secondary school graduate, and I learnt how to drive trucks, but because of joblessness, a friend introduced me to drug trafficking. My wife has a set of twins for me, and the pressure of financial upkeep has been a challenge. If given another chance, I promise not to deal in drugs again.' The NDLEA has assured that efforts to combat drug trafficking remain unwavering, and the agency will thoroughly investigate this case to ensure that justice is served.
