Anambra Police Ramp Up Surveillance to Secure Residents

The Anambra State Police Command has initiated an intensified schedule of surveillance patrols across key areas within the state. This proactive measure is part of a broader effort to enhance security and reassure the populace regarding the safety of their lives and properties.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Spokesman for the command, confirmed this development in a statement released on Monday. According to Ikenga, these operations, which commenced on Monday, are designed to furnish real-time awareness of the security situation and bolster intelligence-driven security initiatives. The ultimate goal is to prevent criminal elements from finding opportunities to operate anywhere in Anambra State.
Ikenga characterized this exercise as a forward-thinking approach intended to elevate public safety, strengthen the command's capacity for rapid response, and support various security agencies in their mission to safeguard lives and assets throughout the state. He further emphasized the command's unwavering dedication to fulfilling its constitutional duties, notwithstanding prevailing weather challenges.
The official statement from the command declared, “The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property by sustaining intensified security operations across identified strategic locations in the state.” It continued, “As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety and enhance security, the Command, on July 20, 2026, continued its proactive policing strategy through enhanced visibility patrols, intelligence-led operations, confidence-building patrols, stop-and-search duties, and coordinated joint security engagements.”
The statement clarified that “These measures are aimed at preventing crime, reassuring residents, and ensuring swift responses to security concerns.” It further reiterated, “Despite the prevailing weather conditions, the Command has remained steadfast in the discharge of its constitutional mandate to protect lives and property. It also reiterates its resolve to deny criminal elements any opportunity to operate within the State.”
Concluding the statement, the Commissioner of Police provided assurance to Ndi Anambra, stating that “the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders, will continue to sustain proactive security measures to maintain law and order while strengthening the safety and security of all residents.”
The command appealed to the public to maintain vigilance, adhere to laws, and remain security-conscious. Residents are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious individuals, movements, or activities to their nearest Police Station or utilize the command’s emergency communication channels.
