The Ebonyi State Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 26-year-old nurse, Miss Mary Habila, who was found de@d at the country home of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state. According to the command's spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, the police received a distress call on June 27, 2026, from the Divisional Police Officer of Ohaozara Division, reporting a medical emergency involving the deceased. Upon arrival at the scene, the DPO was informed by hospital authorities that Miss Habila had been brought in dead. The matter was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was part of the medical team attached to the Minister of Works and had accompanied him to his hometown in Uburu, where she died in a room within the compound of his residence. The police have commenced a comprehensive investigation, with detectives visiting the scene and obtaining statements from relevant persons.
