EXCLUSIVE(SAHARA REPORTERS): Detained Army Captain's Health Woes Stall Court Martial Proceedings

The trial of 36 Nigerian military personnel, accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu's government, was halted on Wednesday due to the deteriorating health condition of one of the defendants, Captain M.L. Muhammad. According to multiple security sources, Captain Muhammad collapsed on Tuesday night while being held in a 30-foot underground detention facility operated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA). The sources alleged that the officer's health complications, including convulsions, seizures, and difficulty breathing, were caused by prolonged exposure to radiation from a signal-jamming device installed in the facility. A senior security source revealed that Captain Muhammad's condition forced the court proceedings to be suspended, stating, 'The court did not proceed as a result of one of the defendants, Captain M.L. Muhammad. Yesterday night, he collapsed while in the illegal dehumanising 30-foot underground detention facility.' The source further explained that the officer had been experiencing severe health issues, including convulsions, vomiting, and difficulty breathing, due to the radiation exposure. The development has raised concerns about the detention conditions of the accused officers, who are being held in an underground facility with limited access to breathable air and exposed to harmful radiation. Top military sources familiar with the detention conditions told SaharaReporters that the accused officers are being confined in an underground facility where the only source of breathable air is supplied through an artificial air-conditioning system. The sources claimed that the detainees have developed hearing problems, memory loss, vision impairment, persistent migraines, dizziness, breathing difficulties, loss of appetite, and other serious health complications after a radiation-emitting jamming device was installed inside their detention area. The situation has sparked outrage, with many calling for improved detention conditions and an end to the alleged human rights abuses.
