DJ Chicken Faces Remand at Kirikiri Over Seyi Tinubu Threat Allegations

On July 10, a Magistrate court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, issued an order for the remand of Ademola Abiodun, widely recognized as the internet personality DJ Chicken. This action follows accusations that he made a death threat targeting Seyi Tinubu, who is the son of President Bola Tinubu. DJ Chicken appeared before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi, facing a three-count charge that includes allegations of threatening to kill, engaging in conduct that could disrupt public peace, and violating provisions of the Cybercrime Act.
Prosecutors informed the court that these charges stem from an online video uploaded by DJ Chicken, where he purportedly threatened Seyi Tinubu while discussing the upcoming 2027 presidential election. The prosecution further stated that the content of the video included remarks perceived as a direct threat to Seyi Tinubu's life, thereby contravening sections of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Upon the reading of the three charges, DJ Chicken entered a plea of not guilty. Magistrate M.F. Onamusi subsequently granted him bail set at N1 million, requiring two sureties who must also provide N1 million each. The court stipulated that one of the sureties must be a civil servant, and the second must be an acknowledged community leader possessing landed property within Lagos State.
Furthermore, both sureties are mandated to present proof of tax clearance for the past three years, their Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) identification, National Identification Number (NIN), and current utility bills. An additional condition states that one of the sureties must be a direct blood relative of the accused.
Until these bail conditions are met, the magistrate ordered DJ Chicken to be held at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The proceedings in this case have been adjourned to August 3, 2026.
