Authorities in Jigawa State have announced significant breakthroughs following a series of police operations targeting various criminal elements. The Jigawa State Police Command successfully apprehended individuals suspected of vandalism, theft, cattle rustling, and drug dealing. These coordinated efforts resulted in the seizure of three cows, sections of vandalized armored cables, a PlayStation 5 console, two plasma television sets, and a substantial cache of 3,427 illicit drugs. Additionally, cash believed to be profits from drug transactions was also recovered.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, these arrests are a direct outcome of the Command's intensified intelligence-gathering and proactive strategies designed to combat criminal operations throughout Jigawa State.

The statement detailed that on July 8, police operatives apprehended an individual suspected of vandalism, found with electric cable wires allegedly stolen from the vicinity of Hotel Hotel within the Dutse metropolis. Subsequent inquiries led to the capture of two additional suspects, identified as Aminu Mohammed (17), Abdullahi Mustapha (17), and Sani Umar (18), all residing in Dutse Local Government Area, who were believed to be receivers of the pilfered cables and other articles. Police indicated that charges would be filed against them in court following the conclusion of investigations.

Separately, officers from the Dutse Division detained Suleiman Muhammad, a 23-year-old from Kano State, on suspicion of possessing stolen goods. These items included a PlayStation 5 gaming console and two plasma television sets, collectively valued at N2.5 million. The Command confirmed that the legitimate owners identified and reclaimed their property on bond, with Muhammad slated for prosecution once investigations are finalized.

Furthermore, the Guri Division, leveraging reliable intelligence and assistance from local vigilante groups, apprehended an alleged cattle rustler. He was found harboring three suspected stolen cows within his premises. These recovered animals have since been returned to their owner on bond, as authorities persist in their efforts to track down other members of the rustling network.

In a distinct initiative, law enforcement agents conducted raids on known drug distribution points across Dutse, Gumel, and Kazaure local government areas. These operations resulted in the arrest of three individuals believed to be drug dealers: Garba Muhammad, Buhari Umar, and Auwalu Dan Jos. From these raids, a total of 3,427 illicit drugs and substances were confiscated, encompassing Exol, Tramadol, Pregabalin, D5 tablets, rubber solution, and suspected Indian hemp. Additionally, N100,660, suspected to be earnings from drug sales, was recovered. The Command stated that the accused would face court proceedings once investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police extended commendation to the officers who demonstrated professionalism during these operations. He also lauded the public for their crucial role in providing intelligence that facilitated these arrests. The Command reiterated its unwavering dedication to ongoing efforts against criminal elements and its mandate to safeguard lives and property throughout Jigawa State.
