The Delta State Police Command has formally charged thirty individuals, among them Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, a 63-year-old man identified as the proprietor of a well-known brothel in Asaba. These arraignments stem from an intelligence-driven operation aimed at preventing crime and targeting identified criminal strongholds across the state.

According to ACP Bright Edafe, the command's spokesperson, who released a statement on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Mr. Ojokwu, owner of the Prince Tarvan 50 brothel, was brought before the Asaba Magistrates’ Court. He is accused of allowing his establishment to function as a brothel and of engaging in the procurement of women and girls for prostitution. These alleged offenses fall under Sections 224 and 223 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C21, Vol. I, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

Edafe further detailed that Ojokwu was one of 202 suspects initially apprehended during the large-scale, intelligence-led operation conducted on Saturday, July 4, 2026. This meticulously planned raid focused on specific criminal hideouts, brothels, and suspected illicit drug dens situated within the Asaba metropolis and its adjacent communities. The operation is a crucial part of the command's ongoing commitment to combating crime and enhancing public safety.

The official statement highlighted that following comprehensive preliminary investigations, 172 of the arrested individuals were screened and subsequently released unconditionally. The remaining twenty-nine suspects, distinct from Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, were arraigned on charges of conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and possession of illegal drugs.

CP Yemi Oyeniyi, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State Command, reaffirmed the force's unwavering dedication to ensuring that every lawful arrest is followed by thorough investigation and diligent prosecution, especially where a prima facie case is established. He issued a stern warning to operators of criminal havens and other unlawful establishments, urging them to desist from activities that pose a threat to public peace and security. CP Oyeniyi emphasized that the Command would maintain its intelligence-led operations to effectively rid Delta State of criminal elements.
