A video clip circulating widely across social media platforms depicts a man in a Nigerian Police camouflage uniform engaged in a heated verbal exchange with a driver inside a moving vehicle. In the footage, the uniformed individual purportedly identifies himself as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and claims to have an elder brother serving as the current Senate President, a wife working as a secretary, and an in-law holding the position of Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Operations.

The approximately two-minute video, which first appeared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, remains unverified. As of the time of this report, the true identity of the uniformed man, his actual rank, and the validity of his asserted family connections could not be independently confirmed. Similarly, the precise location or date of the incident could not be immediately established.

Filmed from within the car by a man wearing a cap and glasses, the motorist is repeatedly heard accusing the officer of insulting him, stating, “You don’t have any right to insult me. I am not a criminal.” In response, the uniformed man, asserting his authority, ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. “Come on, get out from here. I am the officer in charge. I am a DSP. Who are you? Are you mad?” he exclaimed.

The officer then invoked his alleged high-profile family ties while threatening to impede the motorist’s movement. He declared, “I will obstruct your movement for the whole day. In terms of connection, where your own stops is where my own starts. My elder brother is the sitting Senate President. My wife is a secretary. My in-law is DIG operations.”

The argument intensified as the motorist questioned why he was being insulted despite having provided all requested documents. “Since you got me, you have been insulting me. I gave you what you requested. So why are you insulting me? I know the law,” he stated.

Unverified social media accounts suggest the confrontation took an unexpected turn when the motorist, rather than stopping for the document inspection, allegedly drove off with the uniformed officer still inside the car.

The Nigeria Police Force’s Complaint Response Unit has acknowledged the viral post, requesting additional details from the account that originally shared the video to facilitate an investigation. However, PUNCH Online could not confirm at the time of filing this report whether the police high command has identified the officer involved or initiated a formal inquiry.

The video has sparked widespread reactions online, with many users citing it as a clear instance of perceived entitlement and unprofessional conduct within the police force. Other commentators ridiculed the officer’s reliance on family connections during what should have been a routine stop, while some voiced concerns regarding the psychological pressures faced by officers in their daily duties.
