Eswatini: Three Siblings Remanded for Alleged Killing of Mother's Boyfriend

In Eswatini, three brothers have been arraigned before the Mbabane Magistrates Court on charges of murder, following the brutal demise of their mother's boyfriend. The accused, identified as Mlondi Mbuli, 25, Sakhelwe Mbuli, 18, and Lindani Mdziniso, 23, all hail from the Hholoshini area within Eswatini's Hhohho Region. They stand accused of a violent assault on the deceased, Mr. Ngwenya, employing bricks, stones, sticks, open hands, and kicks across his entire body. This alleged incident took place on June 28, 2026, in Hholoshini.
Police investigations suggest the motivation behind the attack was the brothers' accusation that Mr. Ngwenya was engaged in an illicit affair with their biological mother. Court documents reveal that the discovery of the crime occurred when Sibongile Motsa, also a resident of Hholoshini, reported to law enforcement that she found her son, Njabulo Ngwenya, deceased inside her sister’s residence around 1 a.m. on the same date, June 28, 2026.
Principal Magistrate Sfiso Vilakati presided over the initial court appearance of the trio. Following the proceedings, the three siblings have been ordered to remain in custody. Their remand is effective until July 10, 2026, at which point their case is expected to be transferred to the High Court for subsequent legal processes. This high-profile case has garnered considerable local attention, with extensive coverage across various Eswatini media platforms. Official statements from authorities regarding the incident have been limited to the details emerging from the court proceedings.
