North Carolina Mom Faces Charges After High-Speed Crash Kills Her Three Sons

In North Carolina, a woman has been indicted on several charges following allegations that she evaded a police stop, drove at speeds up to 111 mph, and subsequently crashed, resulting in the demise of her three young children. Court records indicate that Megan Symone Scott, aged 31, faces three counts of involuntary manslaughter along with various other infractions linked to the tragic incident that occurred on June 3 in Fayetteville.
According to investigators, Scott accelerated rapidly from law enforcement personnel who had tried to apprehend her concerning a prior domestic dispute. An arrest affidavit reveals that forensic data retrieved from Scott's Kia Forte demonstrated the car achieved a speed of 111 mph before veering across the road's center line, then overcorrecting, and ultimately colliding with a tree on Highway 53.
Law enforcement confirmed that Scott herself, along with two of her sons, were thrown out of the vehicle upon impact. Tragically, two of the children succumbed to their injuries at the crash site, with the third child passing away later at a medical facility. Furthermore, court filings claim Scott was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license, and none of the young passengers were adequately secured with child restraints.
Detectives further accuse Scott of assaulting her boyfriend earlier on the same day, reportedly by biting him and attempting to hit him with the car after he had exited it. Police reports indicate that two officers sustained injuries when Scott drove away from the attempted traffic stop. Scott's arrest occurred on June 15, 2026, and she remains in custody after a judge refused to grant her bail. Beyond the involuntary manslaughter charges, she is also contending with accusations such as assault on law enforcement personnel, assault with a dangerous weapon, hit-and-run, reckless driving, excessive speeding, and numerous child safety seat infractions.
