Authorities in France have pressed charges of attempted murder and rape against a young boy following an alleged assault on a woman who was jogging in a public park. The accused, reportedly a 10-year-old, is alleged to have ambushed the 22-year-old victim within the Gouëdic Valley park, located in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany region.

Reports from the French newspaper Le Parisien indicate that the suspect confronted the woman, instructing her to undress. Upon her refusal, the assailant reportedly stabbed her twice — once in the arm and again in the abdomen — before making an escape, according to the publication.

Almost a week subsequent to the incident, law enforcement officers apprehended a suspect after identifying an individual whose appearance matched the description provided by the victim. Le Télégramme further disclosed that investigators successfully retrieved a knife, believed to be the weapon used in the assault, alongside clothing consistent with the victim's narrative.

Despite official identification documents stating the suspect's age as 10, medical assessments suggest he might be at least 14 years old, as reported by Le Télégramme. Julien Wattebled, the prosecutor, informed Le Parisien that he would refrain from speculating on the boy's actual age, emphasizing that the official documents presented confirm him as 10 years old.

The suspect is understood to have arrived in France from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, approximately a year ago to reside with his father. During police interrogation, the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor confirmed that the suspect confessed to committing the assault.
