Anambra Police Arrest Suspect for Alleged Defilement and Impregnation of Minor

A disturbing case of alleged child abuse has come to light in Anambra State, where a middle-aged man, Tochukwu Nwora, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old girl. The arrest was made possible following a tip-off regarding the involvement of some youths in the use of crystal methamphetamine, also known as Mkpuru Mmiri, in the area. On June 17th, police operatives from the Achalla Divisional Police Headquarters, Awka, conducted a raid in the evening around St. Paul's Secondary School, Achalla, which led to the rescue of the heavily pregnant teenager. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim was repeatedly exploited by several adult males in different locations, including Nando, Nteje, and Achalla, who took advantage of her vulnerable condition by offering her small amounts of money. The Anambra State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest and stated that the victim has been taken to the Police Hospital, Awka, for medical examinations and other necessary procedures. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikoye Orutugu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation to determine the potential culpability of the parent or guardian and to facilitate the prosecution of all individuals involved.
