Abuja Police Command Rescues Five Hostages, Neutralizes Two Bandits in Clearance Operation

In a daring operation, the FCT Police Command has successfully rescued five individuals who were being held captive by kidnappers in the Byazhin area of Abuja. According to a statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the rescue operation was carried out on Tuesday, June 9, following a series of kidnapping incidents in the Paze community. The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, led a team of operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the NPF Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and Kubwa Area Command, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups, to conduct a thorough search and rescue operation in the area. The joint security team engaged the suspected kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of two suspects and the arrest of two others, identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman. The police also recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazines from the suspects. The command has appealed to healthcare practitioners and members of the public to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to the police. The Commissioner of Police has commended the bravery and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
