Bauchi Rainstorm Tragedy Claims Lives of Woman and Grandchild

A devastating rainstorm has caused widespread destruction in Unguwar Katsinawa, Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, resulting in the loss of life. The victims, identified as Aisha Sagir, a 50-year-old housewife, and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, were swept away by the floodwaters that accompanied the heavy downpour. According to Muhammad Nasiru, a resident of Bara, the flash flood from the neighboring Jambba community caught the villagers off guard, destroying several houses, livestock, and other valuables worth millions of naira. Nasiru explained that the flooded water struck with great force, destroying everything in its path, including houses and livestock. The Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that the severe weather incident occurred at about 1000 hours on June 10, 2026, and resulted in the tragic loss of the two lives. The police have visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage and maintain order in the affected community. The incident has left many families homeless, with properties and livelihoods destroyed.
