Militia Attack Leaves Trail of Destruction in Benue Community

A recent attack by suspected militia members has left one person dead and several houses burnt in the Mbasa community, located in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred on June 4, prompting a swift response from security personnel, including troops from Sector 1 and the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, who were alerted to the incident at about 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, the security team found that the attackers had already fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction and chaos. The attack resulted in the death of one resident, while several houses were set ablaze by the assailants. Security personnel also discovered two empty cartridges of 7.62mm special ammunition at the scene, indicating that firearms were used during the attack. The body of the deceased was subsequently evacuated by family members for burial, in accordance with local customs. Efforts are currently underway to track down those responsible for the attack, with military authorities working to reinforce security presence in the area and prevent further violence. The attack has raised concerns about the safety and security of residents in the area, with many calling for increased protection and support from the government.
