Bayelsa Church Robbery: Suspect Caught with Stolen TVs

A daring robbery incident occurred at the Glorified Ambassadors For Christ Assembly, situated along NIT Road, Etegwe, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, in the early hours of Saturday, 23rd May 2026. The Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit responded swiftly to a distress call from a concerned citizen and immediately launched an investigation into the matter. At about 11:00 a.m. on the same day, the suspect, Frank Ekewei, a 20-year-old indigene of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, was apprehended along the Etegwe Roundabout axis of Melford Okilo Road, Yenagoa, with the stolen items in his possession. The suspect was subsequently brought to the operational headquarters of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit for interrogation and questioning. During the interrogation, conducted by the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit, Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo, the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed how he was allegedly lured into the robbery gang by one Mr. Miracle, said to be from Benin, Edo State, who is currently at large. Mr. Frank Ekewei further pledged to cooperate with security operatives by providing useful information that would assist in the arrest of the fleeing suspect. According to the Overseer of the church, Bishop Patterson Kikile, the two suspects reportedly arrived at the church premises around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, broke through the church’s back door, and carted away a 32-inch Hisense Television and a 50-inch Hisense Television. In line with the operational procedures and ethical standards of the agency, the suspect alongside the recovered items has been handed over to Operation Doo Akpo for further investigation and possible prosecution.
