Zahara Jolie-Pitt Moves to Legally Remove Father Brad's Surname

Zahara Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Hollywood star Brad Pitt, has advanced her efforts to formally relinquish her father's last name through legal channels. Court records seen by TMZ confirm that the 21-year-old has fulfilled a crucial legal prerequisite in California for altering her name. This involved placing an announcement regarding her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal weekly for a continuous period of four weeks.
This public notice served to inform individuals of her intention to transition her full name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. It also extended an invitation for anyone opposing this request to submit a formal written objection prior to the scheduled conclusive court hearing. Reports indicate Zahara submitted her petition in June, with the mandatory notices appearing on June 16th, June 23rd, June 30th, and July 7th.
A court hearing is slated for September 28th, during which a judge is anticipated to rule on the application, provided no objections are formally lodged. This action mirrors a similar legal course pursued by her sibling, Shiloh, who in 2024 legally removed 'Pitt' from her last name after satisfying an identical publication obligation. Furthermore, other family members like Maddox and Vivienne have similarly ceased to publicly use the Pitt surname in recent times.
However, a source close to Brad Pitt conveyed to TMZ their conviction that Angelina Jolie is the catalyst behind the strained relationship between the acclaimed actor and his offspring. The source stated, "They believe Angelina has caused the rift between Brad and the children, and this is just the latest chapter in the very sad and never-ending campaign to alienate children from their father." Should the court grant the petition, Zahara will officially be recognized as Zahara Marley Jolie.
