Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Children Visit Grandfather King Charles After Four Years

For the first time in four years, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children have reunited with their paternal grandfather, King Charles. Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla played host to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two kids, Prince Archie, aged 7, and Princess Lilibet, aged 5, at Highgrove House on Friday, July 10.
No photographs of this significant family reunion at the King’s private country estate in Gloucestershire, England, are expected to be released to the public. The last occasion King Charles spent time with his grandchildren was back in 2022, during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II.
Initially, there was considerable doubt regarding Meghan Markle and the children's trip to the UK due to lingering security concerns. Reports in June suggested that the entire family intended to travel from the United States to England to see King Charles. However, these plans were reportedly abandoned by July after their request for taxpayer-funded security was denied.
A source close to the family informed The Guardian at the time, "Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour." The insider further indicated that Prince Harry, 41, the Duke of Sussex, was actively "looking at every option to try and get" Markle, 44, and their children to England "safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground."
After careful consideration of the best approach, Harry made an independent journey to the UK earlier in the week to support various charitable initiatives. He also participated in events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, scheduled to take place in Birmingham.
By Thursday, Page Six had verified that Meghan and her children would indeed be making the trip to England. While the family is not scheduled for any public engagements, sources suggest they are hopeful of visiting Princess Diana’s burial site at Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, England. Prince Harry lost his entitlement to taxpayer-funded security in 2020, following his and his wife's decision to step down from their official royal duties.
