Historic Old Trafford Pitch Sections Now Available for Purchase from Man Utd

Full Story
Football giant Manchester United has started selling segments of its iconic Old Trafford stadium pitch, with a 7x7cm piece going for £125, according to a BBC Sport report on Thursday. The initial release of these turf sections, encased in glass cubes and presented in a sleek black case, was quickly snapped up by fans.
This sales move coincides with revelations that the club's total debt still exceeds £1 billion. Despite achieving a record revenue of £677.6 million and an operating profit of £22.6 million for the 2025-26 financial year, the club nevertheless declared a pre-tax loss of £43 million. Furthermore, United disclosed an expenditure of £63.5 million on land acquisition for a prospective new stadium, a project estimated to cost over £2 billion.
The Old Trafford playing surface underwent its first overhaul in 14 years this past summer, completely dug up and its foundation renewed. Portions of this historic turf were carefully preserved to be offered as collector's items to loyal supporters. The club is marketing these glass-encased cubes as a “priceless memento,” designed to immortalize the memories of legendary matches played at the Theatre of Dreams and to keep the spirit of matchdays alive. This unique offering provides fans with a rare opportunity to possess a tangible fragment of the hallowed ground that has witnessed countless generations of Manchester United legends and some of football's most unforgettable encounters.
