Media personality Frank Edoho has shed light on the circumstances surrounding his departure from the popular game show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'. In a recent interview on 'The KK Show', Edoho debunked reports that he was sacked from the programme, stating that the show's sponsor withdrew support due to a regulatory penalty imposed by the Federal Government. Edoho, who hosted the show for 13 years, explained that he initially worked in radio for four years at Radio Nigeria, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, before transitioning to television. He noted that the fame he gained from working on television for a short period surpassed what he achieved in radio over four years. The former host revealed that the show's sponsor, which had supported the programme for a decade, pulled out after being fined by the Federal Government over a corporate matter. This, according to Edoho, led to a significant financial burden on the sponsor, forcing them to end their involvement with the show. Edoho said he attempted to negotiate for a stake in the show when new sponsors expressed interest, but the talks broke down due to disagreements. His absence from the show's relaunch under a new sponsor sparked speculation that he had been dropped, which Edoho described as a betrayal after his years of dedication to the programme. Edoho hosted 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' from 2004 to 2017 before resigning in September 2017. The show went on a temporary break in 2017 after its sponsor, MTN Nigeria, pulled out, and Edoho returned to the programme in 2022 when it resumed with a revamped cash prize and new sponsors.
