Al Nassr, Ronaldo's Club, Hits Financial Snag; Salary Payments Lag

Reports surfacing indicate that Al Nassr, the Saudi football club featuring superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, is currently grappling with a significant financial crisis. This situation has reportedly led to a halt in transfer activities and a delay in processing player salaries.
An unnamed report details that several first-team players received their June wages in installments, with the club's management reportedly working diligently to clear subsequent outstanding amounts. The same report highlights that the club's escalating debt, which now exceeds its total revenue, has effectively frozen Al Nassr's transfer market operations during the current window. This includes the abandonment of plans to secure a foreign player as a replacement for midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
According to a source close to the club, the instability of this financial predicament could have lasting consequences for players already under contract. The source was quoted saying, "This makes it impossible to impose new contractual obligations on the club before addressing the current financial situation and providing proof of its ability to meet its commitments."
Furthermore, the source confirmed that Al Nassr's leadership has yet to submit the necessary documentation to the relevant authorities, which would demonstrate its financial capacity to engage in new contractual agreements. This financial revelation comes months after Ronaldo himself staged a strike, expressing his dissatisfaction with what he perceived as a lack of investment in the club, despite his substantial daily earnings of £488,000.
The Portuguese captain was reportedly displeased with the level of support Al Nassr received from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), especially as rival club Al Hilal, also 75% owned by the PIF, consistently strengthened its squad. Notably, Al Hilal's high-profile additions included Karim Benzema, Ronaldo's former Real Madrid teammate, who joined them from Al Ittihad. Ronaldo eventually returned to play after missing two matches, a return that followed the fulfillment of his key demands: the payment of overdue salaries and the restoration of management autonomy to the club's senior executives.
