Lawyer Backs Oluremi Tinubu's Petty Trade Advice, Chides Critics

A legal practitioner has weighed in on the recent backlash directed at Senator Oluremi Tinubu, following her counsel for Nigerians to consider embracing petty trading. The lawyer firmly defended Mrs. Tinubu's stance, asserting that many individuals often fail to recognize the significant earning potential inherent in small-scale businesses, especially when they receive financial backing through government grants or modest business loans.
He articulated his perspective, stating, "People underestimate the profits from petty trading with little capital supported by way of grants or loans. That's why someone would think supporting kuli-kuli, akara and roasted corn business is ridiculous. Many of you need to come down from your high horses and face reality." This statement underscores his belief that a more realistic approach is needed when evaluating the viability and profitability of such enterprises, urging critics to reconsider their dismissive attitudes towards informal sector commerce.
