Nigeria, Israel Deepen Ties in Agriculture, Healthcare

The Israeli government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria, particularly in the areas of agriculture and healthcare. According to the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, Israeli companies are already operating in Nigeria, leveraging Israeli technology and seedlings to improve agricultural productivity. Freeman made this disclosure during the celebration of Israel's 78th Independence Anniversary in Abuja, where he noted that the cooperation between both countries is yielding positive results. The ambassador stated that the seeds being planted by Nigerian farmers are Israeli, supported by Israeli technology, but the land and workers remain Nigerian. He emphasized that this partnership is an investment in a shared future, citing the potential for higher yields, stronger rural communities, and greater food security. Freeman also announced the launch of a fifth cohort of Israel's entrepreneurship programme and the donation of three fully equipped ambulances to Nigeria. The ambulances, he said, symbolize the partnership between both countries and will help save lives. The Israeli ambassador attributed Israel's rise to a global technology hub to its determination to turn challenges into opportunities. He noted that Israel has been making miracles happen for 78 years, transforming deserts into farmland, scarcity into abundance, and ideas into technologies. Freeman expressed optimism that Nigeria, with its youthful population, entrepreneurial drive, and agricultural resources, possesses immense potential for growth. He stressed that both countries can achieve more through stronger collaboration. The Minister of Art, Culture and Tourism, Hannatu Musawa, congratulated the government and people of Israel on the country's 78th Independence Anniversary, reaffirming Nigeria's commitment to stronger bilateral ties. Musawa described the relationship between both countries as one built on cooperation, economic transformation, and shared values. She noted that cultural diplomacy remains one of the strongest tools for strengthening relations between nations, promoting education, economic growth, and people-to-people exchanges.
