EXCLUSIVE(SAHARA REPORTERS): Terrorists Issue Fresh Threat Over Kwara Emir's Abducted Wives

A sense of apprehension has engulfed the community of Yashikira in Kwara State following a threat by terrorists to forcibly marry off the abducted wives of the Emir of Yashikira if their ransom demands are not met. The terrorists, who attacked the Emir's palace and the Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters, are seeking a ransom of approximately N150 million for the release of their captives. According to security sources, the terrorists have become frustrated with the delayed payment of the ransom and have resorted to issuing threats. 'The terrorists have threatened that if the ransom is not paid, they will marry off the Emir's wives and other female victims to their commanders,' a security source revealed. The source further stated that the ransom being demanded is around N150 million, which translates to roughly N15 million per victim. The threat has heightened concerns among family members and community leaders, with local vigilantes and police personnel involved in intelligence gathering being briefed about the development. The latest threat comes on the heels of a deadly midnight attack on the Emir's palace and the Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters, which resulted in the abduction of several residents, including wives and children of the Emir. A surviving police officer, who spoke to SaharaReporters, disclosed that the terrorists were well-armed and overwhelmed security operatives before proceeding to the palace. The officer stated that the terrorists had more sophisticated weapons than the security personnel and moved on motorcycles, giving them a significant tactical advantage. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, stating that 10 persons were abducted during the raid, while part of the palace was set on fire. Residents also reported that the attackers set parts of the palace ablaze, burnt vehicles, and damaged several rooms before fleeing with the victims.
