Maduka Okoye Hails Serie A as One of World's Top Leagues

Nigerian international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed his pride in competing in Italy's Serie A, which he believes remains one of the world's premier football leagues. Okoye, who plays for Udinese, stated this in an interview with The Guardian, where he reflected on his experiences in the previous season. He noted that he is eager to push for higher finishes with his club in the upcoming season while also maintaining his international ambitions with the Super Eagles. According to Okoye, 'Everything is possible.' However, he emphasized the need to focus on the basics and take things one game at a time before setting bigger targets. 'We certainly have the quality, the players, an excellent staff, and a solid club behind us,' he said. Okoye also praised the quality of goalkeeping in the league, citing Spain's Unai Simón as an example of a top-tier goalkeeper who excels in composure, situational management, and attention to detail. 'I found Spain's Unai Simón very impressive, especially towards the final stages,' Okoye said, highlighting Simón's ability to remain focused and defend deep balls against France as a key aspect of his goalkeeping. Okoye's comments underscore his commitment to his craft and his desire to compete at the highest level.
