Vinicius Jr Double Sinks Scotland, Pushing Tartan Army Near World Cup Exit

Brazil secured a dominant victory against Scotland, largely thanks to a brace from star forward Vinicius Jr, a result that significantly jeopardizes Scotland's hopes of progressing to the World Cup. The match, played in Miami, saw the Selecao capitalize on several defensive lapses from the Tartan Army.
Just seven minutes into the encounter, Scotland's troubles began when Scott McKenna’s attempted clearance was blocked. The ball then fell kindly to Vinicius Jr, who displayed excellent composure to dribble past goalkeeper Angus Gunn and slot the ball into an unguarded net, giving Brazil the early lead. The Real Madrid attacker appeared to have doubled his tally a quarter of an hour later, snatching the ball from a sluggish Jack Hendry and finishing between the goalkeeper's legs. However, the goal was disallowed after a VAR review identified a minimal foul committed by Vinicius Jr during the build-up.
Despite the disallowed goal, Vinicius Jr eventually secured his second before halftime. Following an earlier effort from Matheus Cunha that was cleared off the line, Scotland struggled to clear their lines effectively on two occasions. This allowed Bruno Guimaraes to deliver a precise deep cross, which Vinicius Jr headed home in first-half stoppage time, extending Brazil's advantage.
The second half continued in a similar vein. Six minutes after the restart, Vinicius Jr had an opportunity to complete his hat-trick when he was played through on goal, but he failed to control the ball effectively. Brazil, however, did not have to wait much longer for their third goal. On the hour mark, Matheus Cunha netted with a sweeping finish, capping off some impressive play from Guimaraes inside the box.
This third goal briefly spurred the Scots into action. Brazil’s goalkeeper Alisson was forced into action, first parrying away a free-kick and then getting down low to save a header from Scott McTominay in quick succession. At the other end, Vinicius Jr squandered a couple more chances to seal his hat-trick, but by then, his crucial contributions had already secured the win for Brazil. GOAL provided ratings for the Brazilian players following their performance.
