Kano NSCDC Personnel Undergo Training for New Anti-Riot Equipment

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has initiated a fresh training programme for its operatives, focusing on the professional and responsible handling of recently acquired anti-riot equipment. Commandant Mohammed Agalama, who heads the Kano State Command, issued this directive, urging personnel to exhibit utmost professionalism and discipline during their duties.
This development was conveyed in a statement released on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, and made available to Arewa PUNCH. Commandant Agalama’s charge came on Thursday during the official launch of the training exercise, which is specifically designed to equip operatives with the skills for effective deployment of the new anti-riot guns.
According to Agalama, the primary objective of this intensive training is to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the personnel, particularly in areas concerning crowd control and the overall management of public order. He was quoted as stating, “The training on the handling and deployment of anti-riot equipment is aimed at enhance the operational capacity operatives on the effective handling of anti-riot equipment.”
The Commandant further revealed that the anti-riot guns and other essential operational kits were recently supplied to the Kano Command by the NSCDC High Command. This provision, he noted, is intended to bolster the command’s capacity for anti-riot and crowd management operations throughout the state.
Agalama implored all participating personnel to dedicate their full attention to the training modules and ensure strict adherence to the Corps’ established rules of engagement and standard operating procedures. He also extended profound gratitude to the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his continuous support and the provision of these vital resources, which are crucial for improving the Corps' operational effectiveness.
Assuring the NSCDC High Command, Agalama pledged that the new equipment would be judiciously utilized to enhance public safety, uphold law and order, and diligently fulfill the NSCDC's mandate within Kano State. The training is anticipated to furnish operatives with the necessary expertise and knowledge for the safe, efficient, and professional deployment of the anti-riot guns and other gear during legitimate operations.
