Commandant Reuben Dennis Takes Helm at Rivers NSCDC

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has welcomed a new Commandant, Reuben Dennis, following the exit of his predecessor, Joachin Okafor. The transition took place during a brief ceremony at the Command's headquarters in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. According to a statement released by the Rivers NSCDC spokesperson, Ihemnacho Umeado, on Wednesday, the former State Commandant symbolically handed over the seal of authority to Commandant Reuben Lessor Dennis, who previously served as the 2i/c and Head of Operations, Zone 9, in Port Harcourt. In his farewell speech, Joachin Okafor expressed gratitude to the Commandant-General, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the opportunity to serve the Corps and the nation. He also thanked the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalaye Fubara, for his support, particularly the donation of 10 Hilux patrol vans, which significantly enhanced the Command's operational capabilities. The outgoing Commandant highlighted his achievements and urged his successor to prioritize acquiring a permanent site for the Command. Commandant Dennis has pledged to build on the legacies of his predecessor and strengthen the existing synergy with other security agencies in the state. He also promised to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of Rivers State, intensify the protection of critical national assets, and prioritize the training and welfare of personnel. Dennis warned that his administration would not tolerate indiscipline and misconduct, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility and urging residents to support efforts to tackle insecurity. The new Commandant thanked President Bola Tinubu and the NSCDC Commandant-General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, for the privilege to serve in his new capacity. The event featured the signing of handover notes, the symbolic transfer of authority, and a photo session.
