The Catholic Bishop of Ondo, Most Reverend Jude Arogundade, has made a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to bring to book those behind the sponsorship of terrorism in Nigeria. This call was made during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ondo State Christian Association (CAN) Ecumenical Centre in Akure, which was facilitated by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. Arogundade described the actions of those sponsoring terrorism as treasonable and emphasized the need for the government to take decisive action against them. He questioned how it was possible for individuals to bring in terrorists from outside the country to kill Nigerian citizens, describing it as an act against the sovereignty of Nigeria. The cleric noted that some individuals had boasted about bringing in people from outside the country in the past, and it was the government's responsibility to hold them accountable. Arogundade also expressed concern over the growing insecurity in the country, particularly the recent abduction of school children in Oyo State, but urged Nigerians not to panic. He advised them to be aware of their environment and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Also speaking at the event, Pastor Felix Adejumo, the Convener of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), warned political leaders against politicizing the security challenges facing the country. Adejumo emphasized that the protection of lives and property should not be subjected to partisan interests and called on leaders to take decisive action to address the challenge. The Ondo State CAN Chairman, Rev. Fr. Olorunfemi Ologunwa, appreciated the Minister of Interior, Tunji-Ojo, for sponsoring the Ecumenical Centre project, which is being constructed on a 14-plot site. Ologunwa described the project as a place of worship, fellowship, and continuous prayers for Nigeria. Tunji-Ojo, who was represented by the Rev. Jacob Olajide Bada, expressed confidence that the Ecumenical Centre would promote faith, unity, and national transformation. He described it as a prayer hub where Christians would continuously intercede for the nation, believing that God's promises concerning Nigeria would come to pass.
