Police in South Yorkshire, England, have confirmed that a man sustained severe injuries after gaining unauthorized access to a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Sky News disclosed on Saturday, October 10, 2026, that emergency responders were dispatched to the animal attraction, situated close to Doncaster, following reports of the occurrence.

South Yorkshire Police stated that on Saturday afternoon, they were alerted to a situation involving 'a man entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.' Authorities further detailed that 'The tiger has subsequently attacked the man and this has resulted in serious injury.' Efforts are underway by officers to reach the man's relatives. The police assured the public that the tiger remained within its designated area, posing 'no wider risk to the public.'

Following the event, the park was evacuated, and law enforcement personnel stayed on-site to conduct investigations. Yorkshire Wildlife Park issued a statement, confirming, 'Our emergency response procedures were immediately activated, and emergency services are currently attending the scene.' The park also noted, 'We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened.' The park further emphasized that 'the safety and wellbeing of visitors, staff and animals remain our highest priority.'

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed receiving a call to the location at 1:30 PM on Saturday. A spokesperson for the service stated, 'We sent a number of resources, including two land ambulances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and a doctor.' Consequently, the park ceased operations for the remainder of the weekend.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park promotes itself as an immersive wildlife experience, home to diverse species such as lions, giraffes, tigers, leopards, and black rhinos. Its official website details a 300-meter elevated pathway traversing the 'Land of the Tigers' exhibit, designed to offer guests unobstructed views of the animals in their naturalistic environment. Law enforcement officials have indicated that inquiries into the incident are still in progress.
