91-Year-Old Woman Dies in Karnataka Following Monkey Encounter

A tragic incident has occurred in Karnataka, India, where a 91-year-old woman lost her life after being knocked down by a monkey outside her residence. The unfortunate event took place on the evening of September 19 at the B.T. Patil Nagar home of Najamunnisa Begum.

Surveillance camera footage captured the sequence of events, showing Najamunnisa initially near her courtyard entrance. She then moved towards the side of her property, seemingly alerted by a noise. Upon spotting the monkey, she turned and began retreating towards her house. Unexpectedly, the animal lunged at the elderly woman, striking her with its feet and causing her to fall backward onto the ground.

The fall resulted in Najamunnisa sustaining severe head injuries. Moments after the commotion, her daughter emerged from the house and discovered her mother lying injured. The monkey reportedly advanced towards the daughter, as if preparing for another attack, before leaping onto a nearby garden wall.

Najamunnisa was promptly transported to a private hospital for treatment of her head trauma. While she initially showed signs of recovery, her condition deteriorated the following day, and she passed away in the hospital. This fatal occurrence adds to a concerning trend of monkey-related deaths reported across India in recent weeks. For instance, on September 10, a 55-year-old woman in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, died after falling from a rooftop while reportedly trying to escape monkeys. Four days later, another woman in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, also succumbed to injuries sustained from a rooftop fall following a reported monkey attack.
