Edo APC, Governor Okpebholo Eye 2.5 Million Votes for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, alongside the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced strong belief in the party's victory in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. The APC in Edo is setting an ambitious goal to secure 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu.

This declaration was made by Governor Okpebholo on Tuesday, during an APC grassroots mobilisation rally held across Ologbo Wards 9 and 10 in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area. A statement released by the Edo State Government via Facebook confirmed the event, where the Governor also formally introduced the party's flagbearers for the 2027 polls.

"The APC has successfully built a formidable structure throughout the state, ensuring we are well-prepared for the upcoming elections," Governor Okpebholo stated. He further explained that the ongoing mobilisation drive is designed to bolster the party's presence at the community level and garner crucial backing for its chosen candidates. He appealed to party members to foster unity and dedicate themselves to the APC's initiatives.

During the rally, Okpebholo formally presented Ogbeide Ihama as the senatorial candidate, Felix Igbinovia for the House of Representatives, and Clement Ikponmwonsa for the House of Assembly. He implored all members and supporters to actively strive for the success of these candidates, reiterating his administration's unwavering commitment to the development of Edo State.

The Governor extended gratitude to the voters for their continuous support of his government, expressing certainty that the party would solidify its widespread backing across the state. He specifically acknowledged the massive turnout of residents at the rally, even amidst the rain, and offered prayers for divine blessings upon them.

Jarrett Tenebe, the Edo APC Chairman, also addressed the gathering, confirming the party's ambitious target of 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu within the state during the 2027 general elections.

Tenebe elaborated, noting that the party's leadership has already initiated extensive mobilisation efforts across all 18 local government areas to meet this target. He highlighted that both Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, have been actively touring communities and engaging directly with party faithful to strengthen the APC's base in anticipation of the elections. Tenebe called upon all members to collaborate effectively to realize the party's electoral aspirations.

Sunny Ogbewe, the APC chairman for Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, also contributed, stating that the Governor's presence significantly uplifted the spirits of party members in the region. He characterized Ikpoba-Okha as a crucial area, boasting one of the highest numbers of registered voters in Edo State, and pledged that the party would exert full effort to garner substantial votes for the APC there.

Ogbewe confirmed that mobilisation activities have begun and will persist, involving continuous engagement with both residents and party members leading up to the elections. He lauded the Governor for various projects and interventions implemented in the area, assuring that the party would "reciprocate" this by diligently working to achieve its electoral goals. Furthermore, he praised the chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council for his support of the current administration’s development initiatives.
