Borno Commissioner Saina Buba's Finger-Cutting Threat to Non-APC Voters

Full Story
Saina Buba, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Borno State, has issued a stern warning to political opponents, implying physical harm if they fail to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). These inflammatory comments were made by Mr. Buba during a campaign inauguration event hosted by the Tinubu City Boy Movement, a political support organization actively campaigning for President Bola Tinubu’s current administration and his anticipated re-election bid in 2027.
Addressing the assembled crowd, the commissioner declared unequivocally, “Whoever shows us a finger, we are ready to cut off his fingers. We are now playing politics. Whoever shows us a finger, we will show him a finger… Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger.”
Beyond physical threats, Buba also cautioned that governmental benefits would be strategically withheld from individuals who do not offer their support to the party. He further stated, “The government is our government. Those who follow us will enjoy the honey; if you refuse, then you will be flogged.” Buba’s remarks have since generated significant public condemnation and controversy, with video evidence of the incident circulating widely.
