Zamfara Senator Yari Accepts Role as APC's 2027 Campaign DG

Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, representing Zamfara West in the upper chamber, has formally accepted his designation as the Director-General for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections. The lawmaker conveyed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the party's leadership for entrusting him with such a significant role.

The Presidency had previously announced the formation of the APC's Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday morning, a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. This announcement confirmed Senator Yari's appointment as Director-General, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma designated as the Council's Secretary.

Furthermore, the presidential directive outlined President Tinubu as the Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Vice-Chairman I. The comprehensive list of members totals 223 individuals.

In his acceptance remarks, Senator Yari stated, “I accept this responsibility with deep gratitude and full seriousness. My sincere thanks go to President Bola Tinubu and the party for the trust placed in me, and to our party leadership for the confidence. I do not take it lightly.”

The former Zamfara State governor characterized the upcoming campaign as transcending a mere electoral battle. Instead, he envisioned it as “a conversation with the Nigerian people in every state, every language, every faith about the future we are building together.”

He further committed to leading the campaign effort with utmost discipline, fostering unity, and demonstrating respect towards all Nigerians. He also indicated that preparations would commence without delay.

Senator Yari appealed to citizens, irrespective of their political affiliations, to prioritize progress over divisive sentiments. He emphasized that the APC intends to gain public trust through its proven track record, rather than through mere "noise."

Concluding his statement, he expressed confidence, saying, “By the grace of God, and with the effort of us all, we will deliver victory in January 2027.”
