Governor Bassey Otu Rejigs Cross River Cabinet, Appoints New Commissioners

In a move aimed at bolstering the effectiveness of his administration, Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has inaugurated two new commissioners and carried out a strategic reshuffle of his cabinet. The appointments and redeployments, announced by the governor on Monday, are designed to strengthen his government's ability to deliver on its core objectives, as outlined in the 'People First' agenda. The newly sworn-in commissioners are Ayuk Obi Afor, who will be responsible for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo, who has been appointed Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations. According to Governor Otu, these appointments are intended to reinforce his administration's commitment to enhancing governance and accelerating development across the state. As part of the cabinet reshuffle, several commissioners have been reassigned to new portfolios. Anom Emmanuel Moses, for instance, has been moved from the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development to the Ministry of Human Capital Development. Similarly, Ekpang Erasmus Ekpang has been redeployed from the Ministry of Information and Orientation to the Ministry of Lands, while Cobham Ekpenyong Ene has been reassigned from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Information and Orientation. Other commissioners who have been reassigned include Mensah Bassey Offiong, who has moved from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Environment, Kingsley N. Egumi, who has been redeployed from the Ministry of Human Capital Development to the Ministry of Transport, and Ekpenyong Francis Edet, who has been moved from the Ministry of Lands to the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development. Governor Otu explained that the redeployments are aimed at aligning the experience and expertise of cabinet members with the priorities of his administration. 'These adjustments are aimed at aligning experience and expertise with the priorities of government as we continue to accelerate development across all sectors of our dear state,' the governor stated. He congratulated the newly sworn-in commissioners and those assigned to new portfolios, urging members of the executive council to remain committed to effective service delivery.
