INEC Announces PVC Collection for Osun Voters Ahead of Governorship Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has declared that Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are now ready for collection by eligible citizens. This announcement pertains to individuals who either registered anew or updated their voter information during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise within the state.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Oluwatoyin Babalola, the distribution process for these PVCs will commence at the registration area level across all parts of the state. Following this initial phase, the collection exercise will transition to INEC's council area offices.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State, wishes to inform the general public, particularly persons that registered, applied for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or update of records during the just concluded Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise that their Permanent Voter Cards are now ready for collection,” the official statement clarified.

The electoral body outlined the schedule for PVC collection at the 332 registration areas throughout Osun State. This phase will run from July 22nd to July 28th, with collection hours set between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends. Subsequently, the collection will continue at the Local Government Area offices statewide, from July 29th to August 7th, maintaining the same daily hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., also inclusive of weekends.

Ms. Babalola strongly advised all affected registered voters to utilize this window to collect their PVCs promptly. She emphasized that “the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day.”

Furthermore, INEC confirmed that any uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises would also be available for retrieval during this specified distribution period. The commission reiterated that the collection of voter cards is strictly a personal exercise, issuing a stern warning that no form of proxy collection would be permitted under any circumstances.
