Adeleke's Administration Leads in Minimum Wage Implementation

Osun State has emerged as one of the few states in Nigeria that have successfully implemented the national minimum wage, according to Governor Ademola Adeleke. The governor made this disclosure at the opening session of the National Retreat of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council held in Osogbo, Osun State. Adeleke stated that his administration has prioritized the welfare of workers, providing a conducive work environment that enhances productivity. In addition to paying the national minimum wage, the state government has also implemented measures to alleviate the burden on retirees, including the payment of outstanding liabilities. The governor noted that his administration has maintained a cordial relationship with organized labor, ensuring regular and prompt payment of salaries to workers across the state. He also highlighted the approval and implementation of promotions and career progression opportunities for deserving public servants, emphasizing the importance of upholding the dignity of labor. Furthermore, Adeleke's administration has invested heavily in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and local economic development, creating an enabling environment for economic growth and job creation. The governor commended the leadership of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council for choosing Osun as the host of this year's retreat, which he saw as a vote of confidence in his administration's commitment to labor and workers' welfare.
