Kwara PDP fields Kale Kawu for 2027 governorship race

Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday announced Engineer Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu as its governorship candidate in 2027. This came after two days the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state picked the Speaker of the State Assembly, Salihu Yakubu Danladi (SYD). At the party’s secretariat, yesterday, the chief returning officers led by Sen Duro Faseyi announced that Kawu scored 98,998 votes to beat his closest rival, Ladi Hassan who scored 2,125 in the party’s governorship primary held in all the 193 wards across the 16 local governments. Earlier before the declaration, Faseyi expressed appreciation to the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki for upholding and sustaining the PDP. According to him, Saraki not only sustained PDP, he has also contributed meaningfully to the development of Nigeria. He applauded specially, other governorship aspirants in the party for a classical show of sportsmanship, noting that their maturity would not go unnoticed. “It is now certainly sure that the maturity you (aspirants) displayed will testify to the fact that 2027 is a sure victory for PDP,” he said. Also, speaking in the same vein, the party’s state chairman, Isa Adamu Bawa, appreciated Saraki, members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and the aspirants. In his note of acceptance, Kawu promised to to run an all-inclusive government as well as lift the state to desired height.
