Former Governor of Ekiti State and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost bearing and vision. Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti state, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) is losing its bearings and vision. According to Fayemi, in an interview on ‘State Affairs with Edmund Obilo’, the party exercised the antithesis of democracy when it adopted the consensus model in the primary election held across states. “This is not where the party has come from. We have lost our bearing and the vision of the founding fathers of this party,” he said. Further speaking, Fayemi said President Bola Tinubu, who is one of the founding fathers of the party, is underwhelmed by the pressures of governance. He noted that while President Bola Tinubu is one of the founding fathers of the APC, he appears consumed by the pressures of governance. Stating that he doesn’t view Tinubu’s style as one to impose candidates concerning political offices, Fayemi expressed displeasure at instances where party members run to the presidential villa for favours and endorsements. “It would be unfortunate if everybody is running to Aso Rock because they want something,” he said. “Those who don’t get consensus won’t be happy… and you’re waiting for an implosion.”
