The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Noheem Adams, has secured the All Progressives Congress ticket for Eti-Osa Constituency I after defeating his rival, Saheed Bankole, in Wednesday’s primary election. Adams polled 7,638 votes against Bankole’s 1,225, sweeping five of the six wards contested in the constituency. The election in Ward J was declared inconclusive. The result, announced at Olomu Primary School in Ajah, effectively positions Adams for a return to the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election. Officials of the All Progressives Congress declared Adams the winner after the collation of results across the wards in Eti-Osa Constituency I. Speaking after the exercise, Adams described the outcome as a reflection of the will of party members and residents across the constituency. “I feel great and honoured. It is the will of the people. It is democracy, and the people have spoken today,” Adams said. The lawmaker noted that his re-election bid had earlier received endorsements from party leaders, local government chairmen and stakeholders within the constituency. “Prior to today, my leaders from the GAC, chairmen of local government councils, party heads and ward chairmen endorsed my re-election bid,” he said. “All my constituents also converged two weeks ago to declare their support.” According to Adams, appeals were made to his challenger to step down before the primary election, but the contest eventually proceeded. “They asked my opponent to step down, but he insisted on the primary election,” he said. “Today, we have seen the result.” • Yobe APC gov aspirant accepts disqualification • LP shifts primaries over Sallah, Democracy Day anniversary • Jigawa APC adopts consensus, returns 18 lawmakers for 2027 Adams went on to provide a breakdown of the results across the wards, insisting that the figures demonstrated overwhelming grassroots support for his candidacy. “For example, in Ward A3, I had over 2,000 votes while my opponent had just a little above 200,” he said. “In Ajah, we recorded 1,262 votes while he had minor votes. In Oniru, we secured over 2,500 votes, and he had just 143.” “In another ward, we recorded over 600 votes while he scored about 400. Overall, across the six wards, we won by about 92 per cent.” The Majority Leader also commended party officials and security agencies for what he described as a peaceful and transparent process. He expressed confidence that the outcome of the primary would be upheld by the party leadership. “With the six Divisional Police Officers in the constituency affirming my victory, I hope the will of the people will be sustained by the party,” Adams said. The lawmaker further pledged to mobilise support for Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates during the general election. “The people have promised me that they will ensure I win the main election by 95 per cent,” he said. “They have also promised victory for our President, the governorship candidate and other candidates of the party.” “I am assuring the President that this time around, we are going to win this place for him.”
