Lagos Street Youths Rally Against Proposed FBI Office in Nigeria

A group identified as 'area boys' in Lagos recently staged a public demonstration, expressing their strong disapproval of plans to establish an office for the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) within Nigeria. A video clip circulating online captured the protesters holding various placards, while one individual, speaking into a microphone, repeatedly declared, “Say no to FBI office in Nigeria.”

During the protest, the individual vocalized concerns regarding the US agency's intention to operate in Nigeria. He specifically accused the FBI of targeting and oppressing Nigerian youths. "What have Nigerian youths done to you that you are oppressing them?" he questioned the American authorities.

The protester further highlighted what he perceived as a misplaced focus by US officials on Nigerian young people, especially when critical issues like pervasive banditry continue to plague the nation. He concluded with a defiant message, stating, "If you can’t help us, go back to your country." The video footage of the event was widely shared across social media platforms.
