French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed concerns over Iran's potential plan to impose tolls on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In a recent interview with TF1 television, Macron emphasized the importance of upholding international law, stating that 'everything' must be done to prevent the imposition of such fees. This statement comes ahead of the G7 summit in France, which US President Donald Trump is expected to attend. According to Iran's Fars news agency, a clause regarding maritime service fees was added to the framework agreement between Iran and the US, aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East. Macron has confirmed that the accord has been signed electronically, with additional annexes set to be finalized by Friday. However, he declined to provide further details on the agreement. Macron also announced that a joint France-UK mission is prepared to deploy quickly to ensure the Strait of Hormuz is open, with the French flagship aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle ready to be in the area within two to three days. The European community is eagerly awaiting the reopening of the Strait, as it is expected to lead to a decrease in energy and goods prices. Macron has denied that the deal is a victory for Iran, instead choosing to focus on the objective of reopening the Strait. He emphasized the need for Iran's stocks of enriched uranium to be neutralized and placed under the supervision of the UN atomic watchdog. 'We will ensure that the enriched uranium capabilities that remain are properly neutralized,' Macron stated, adding that the sensitive stocks should be 'either taken out, or diluted' and then looked after by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
